I’ve kept my promises

Before the election I promised to do a number of things if I was elected. Some were my own ideas, others were things you asked me to do. In no particular order, These are the promises I made and kept in my manifesto –

regular meetings with individuals, businesses, local organisations, voluntary sector. Funding of 240 projects countywide could not have been done without consultation

Badger Cull; Finances; Operating Model Reorganisation; 2016-17 Operating Model review webcast

Reducing the cost of the Custody Suite by up to £1.5 million; Maintaining Constabulary’s independence against regional collaboration proposals that were not in the best interests of Gloucestershire; Rejecting Chief Constable’s request to increase the council tax 2014/15

Police and Crime Plan and its leads. 240 Commissioner’s Fund projects; CSE film; Safer Cyber projects

 

  • Yes, where possible, regular dialogue maintained and meetings held with MP’s & Ministers when appropriate. Member of Leadership Gloucestershire.

 

 

 

Yes.  Appointing a new chief constable and replacing a temporary team of four chief officers with a permanent team of three. Position of Executive Manager deleted.  

Custody, ICT and staff reviews.

Developing the Police estate after years of drift.

 

 

 

  • Yes Evidence: Badger cull, regular public holding to account sessions;
  • Custody block contract called in for audit resulting in reduction in costs of circa 1.5 million;
  • Support for Restorative Justice, National best practice award received.
  •  Financial support for Nelson Trust & many others, 
  • Rape and sexual abuse centre; City Farm and numerous other projects (210 in all)

 

 

  1. Yes. Evidence: Police and Crime Plan puts the voluntary sector at its heart along with statutory group. Over 6000 students passed through pre driving schemes. 
  2.  Projects and initiatives supported and funded through the Commissioner’s Fund – 210; CSE film; Safer Cyber projects

 

  • Figures fall and rise and don’t tell the whole story but the indications are very favourable; Overall crime in Gloucestershire is during my period in office is down, the only area in the South West.
  • Project such as  CitySafe in Gloucester and Stroud; Street Pastors; Late Night Levy; KeepSafe are some of the examples of how I have worked with you to make Gloucestershire safer  – 210 local projects in all

Appointment of a new chief constable and permanent chief officer group; Construction of new custody facility; purchase of new premises for investigative teams; purchase of new storage facility; centralisation on Waterwells Business Park; Transfer from Gloucester Bearland and Cheltenham Lansdown Road sites underway
